Jill is a contemporary American painter specializing in geometric abstraction with an emphasis on radiant light and color. She states that she believes in beauty, and attracted to the light in the garden, and to shapes with hard edges. She says that "I choreograph rhythm and space through a poetic visual language that is filled with the celebration of light."

For the past several years she has focused on geometric abstractions with an emphasis on light and color. Jill states "I learned about light, color and radiance from my background in photography, and also from studying the impressionist painting method from master colorist, Susan Sarback, where I learned to paint extensively with a knife."

Jill have been painting since 1996. After a couple decades of painting landscapes, she took a 2 year sabbatical and began again, painting geometric abstractions. She says "I was deeply Influenced by an exhibit that I saw in Switzerland by Johannes Itten, and knew exactly what I wanted to do after I saw that show. I wanted to paint color that stands on its own, nonobjective, presented in shapes.

I am inspired by nature, and by the colors that nature creates from light and shadow. And I am, in truth, inspired by color itself, and how it can lift my spirits, generating positivity, warmth and passion. It gives me great pleasure to create space, rhythm and movement within shapes of color."

“Color is my daylong obsession, joy and torment.” - Claude Monet
